About Spellplassen

Spellplassen is one of Norway’s premier hunting outfitters, serving clients from both Norway and abroad, with over 10 years of experience in the market. Based in the heart of the Østerdalen valley, we offer hunting opportunities for most game species found in the region. We prioritize the quality of our services—a commitment that keeps our clients coming back time and again.

The name "Spellplassen" (meaning "the lek site") originated when we built our cabin in 2010; on our very first morning, we woke up to the sound of black grouse displaying right outside our bedroom.

We go the extra mile to ensure your complete satisfaction as our client.

We provide comprehensive hunting packages, and we guarantee that you will be satisfied with your experience.

Success in the field often depends on having skilled guides, local experts, and well-trained dogs—all of which we provide.

We guarantee a comfortable stay in our range of accommodations, which span from simple forest cabins to properties with the standard of a manor house.

Join us for a hunting experience that will create memories to last a lifetime!

Our Guides

Steinar

Founder of Spellplassen; I hunt—and have hunted—everything there is to hunt in this country.

I have two Pointers and a Gordon Setter cross in my kennel. I also serve as the household cook whenever the need arises.

Herman

I hunt most types of big game—both with and without a dog—in Norway and Sweden, but I am particularly passionate about hunting with a loose-running dog and tracking wounded game. I own a Jämthund for moose and wild boar, and a PBGV for roe deer, red deer, and fallow deer. I am a certified tracking handler and a field inspector. I have been hunting my entire life.

Nina

Primarily hunts forest birds and ptarmigan. A fantastic dog handler. With her two Drentsche Patrijshounds, she is one of the best-known guides in our hunting areas.

Lives in Skarnes.

Terje

I grew up hunting and have hunted most types of game in the Nordic region. However, after moving inland, hunting for forest birds became my primary focus. We have three German Wirehaired Pointers and live in Ringsaker.

Jo

Bagged my first ptarmigan 44 years ago (at age 10).

Have hunted most game, with the exception of reindeer; in recent years, the focus has been on forest grouse and ptarmigan.
Two Pointers. Live on Nesodden; born in Dokka.

Jørn

One of the guides with the highest number of roe deer to his credit.

A man of the campfire and a creator of atmosphere for our guests. 40 years of experience in the woods.

Our tracking team.

Resides in Kolbotn.

Kirsti

I have two Small Münsterlanders that are used for forest-bird hunting and field trials.

Kirsti is primarily a dog handler and is active in dog sports. She is experienced in handling dogs for hunters during the hunt.

Mads

Our latest guide has delivered excellent results this autumn. With his expertise and his Brittany spaniel, he is a delightful guide to have along.

Henriette

Henriette is an avid bird hunter who pursues both forest grouse and ptarmigan with her two Kleiner Münsterländers. She also participates in bird dog trials.
